Burgers On The BBQ

By Mike Gerardy Burgers Hamburgers are best if you grind up the meat yourself, this allows you to monitor what goes into them. The recommended mix is 80% meat and 20% fat. Kitchen Aid has a grinder attachment that works well for home use. Cut the meat into about one inch cubes, separating the lean from fatty pieces and season both piles. Then put the cubes in the freezer. When they are about half frozen they are ready to grind. Feed them into the grinder one at a time, adding as much or little of the fat as you want. Once all of it is ground, run it through one more time. Remember that fat is where a lot of the flavor is so unless you are a purist, throw some in there. A trick to making perfect patties is to form the meat into @ a 1 inch tall loaf. Pack it down well, we want tight burgers. Using a large glass like you would a cookie cutter, cut the burgers out. Freeze the patties on a plate covered with parchment paper or saran wrap for at least an hour. Any time after that, they are ready to go onto the grill with no thawing needed. Hamburgers made this way give you many options as to their make up. If you use only lean meat add bacon for the fat, this makes a great bacon burger. Pork or sausage can be added, or you can just make ground pork burgers. To make a stuffed burger, roll the ground meat into a in. thick loaf. Lay your stuffing (ham, cheese, onion, peppers, etc) onto one patty then cover it with another patty sandwich style, but with the meat on the outside. Seal the edges well, and freeze. Burgers are grilled not bbqed as they will need to cook at a high heat directly over the flame. The amount of flare up will depend on the fat content. Covered grills that have air dampers on them are best for this. Many folks flip them 3 times, that way they can get the cross hatch grill marks on both sides. I find the best method is to flip them only once, they are juicier and easier to flip without falling apart. This is not a competition entry, so I am not so concerned about grill marks here. Once the meat is placed onto the hot grill, the meat will stick, leave it alone. When it is ready to flip, it will loosen easily from the grate. Cooking time varies on how much fat you used, what meats, how you want them cooked and how close to the fire you are. Flip them when they appear to be a little over halfway cooked. Toasting the buns along side of them as they finish cooking adds flavor to the bun. Ready to Go Fishing?

By Charles Kassotis Fishing is as old as human life, and a necessity for its survival in some regions. Fish are as plentiful as any other biological forms, and very interesting to eat as well as catch and study. From the skillet to the aquarium, a fish can make us feel good inside or out, depending on our interaction with it. Fishing has even been used as a spiritual metaphor in Christianity when Jesus urged His disciples to become fishers of men. From the farmers pond to all of the seven seas, fish abound in all sizes, colors, and shapes. Their uses vary from one place to another, but predominantly we catch fish to eat them or to mount them somewhere as trophies. Some make great pets or stress relievers in fish bowls. If you are planning a fishing trip, make sure you take along all the essentials that will make the experience worthwhile and memorable. 1. Bring the right gear. As you become a more seasoned fisherman, you will know which tackle box to bring. From lures to rod and reel, you will need to take into account the body of water where you will be, since freshwater lake fishing is very different from deep-sea fishing. Conditions and specimens will vary by watery environment and global region, so the wise fisherman will understand something of the prevailing conventions and conditions before heading out. 2. Dress for the occasion. If youre ice fishing, dont forget thermal underwear and insulated footgear. While in the tropics, apply sunscreen liberally and dress light. If youre not used to large waves and are headed out to the open sea, take along motion sickness medicine or wear the patch. A hat, sunglasses, and a watch are all helpful while fishing. 3. Safety first. If youre manning the boat, make sure you know how to operate it and what to do in case of emergency. Check weather and boat traffic conditions in the area where you plan to fish. Wear a life preserver or keep one close by. Take along a radio or cell phone so you can contact the Coast Guard if you run into trouble. Avoid using alcoholic beverages while fishing, as many boating accidents are associated with its use. Make sure the boat is in good condition before taking it out. Wherever you go, or whatever you fish for, have fun doing it. Just be sure you plan ahead and take along everything you need to be prepared for any unexpected circumstances. Check with fishing experts before you go, or take someone who is knowledgeable with you. You can buy a book or even rent videos on many kinds of fishing, so learn all you can before you go to have a great time. Free Cell Phone Offers

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Daymon_Hoag]Daymon Hoag The cellular industry is booming. Consumers enjoy more minutes for less money, free nights and weekends, unlimited mobile phone to mobile phone, e-mail and Internet access from their cell phones, and around every Internet corner spring attractive offers for a free cell phone. There are so many free cell phone offers that it can get a bit confusing. Free cell phones are only free to people who purchase a cell phone plan. Sometimes cell phones are free via Instant rebate, meaning if you have enough money on your credit card to cover the actual cost of the cell phone, it will be free that day or instantly. This is the cellular carriers way of making sure the buyer can pay for service. Free cell phones may also come in the form of a mail in rebate. These cell phones are normally higher cost, higher quality cell phones, and usually better cell phones than one might receive through an instant rebate. People who can afford to buy a cell phone yet want to save some money will benefit from mail in rebates. You are unlikely to find a free cell phone when you go with a prepaid cell phone plan. The reason for this is that cell phone companies really make their money from the cell phone plan, not the cell phones themselves. By offering a free cell phone, they provide a tantalizing offer while making service easily available to potential customers. For those with a good credit rating, free cell phones are readily available. If your credit rating is poor, or less than perfect, you can usually still get a free cell phone, but would be required to pay a deposit. Often times the deposit is fairly hefty and for cell phone service, not the cell phone itself. Some of the largest cellular vendor’s online for free cell phones are WireFly, formerly known as InPhonic and FONcentral.com. Though very similar in appearance, WireFly is by far the cheapest in cell phone plans online or anywhere. These kind of cellular companies pair free cell phone offers with cell phone plans for purchase online. In short, when looking for free cell phones online, unless you have good credit, be prepared to pay a deposit. Be sure it’s clear the cell phone is free via instant, or mail in rebate. Make sure the cell phone plan that comes with the free cell phone is of benefit to you and suites your needs. Don’t be hasty, take time to read the plan details. Garage Sale Pricing Tips

By Helen Walters While you are pricing garage sale items, remember that people are looking for good deals. Whatever you do, don’t charge too much. A good rule of thumb for garage sales is to keep most things under $5. Remember that these items are things you no longer want, so you should be pricing garage sale items at prices that will sell. You dont want to have to stack them away again and lose the extra space you were planning to have. That old chair that grandpa used to sit in every time he visited? Look at it with the eye of a person who only sees an old, threadbare chair with stuffing coming out of the side. If it has so much sentimental value that you could not part with it for any less that $500 then you’d be better served to keep it in your living room and out of the sun, because that’s the farthest it’ll go that weekend. Do not include sentimental value in pricing garage sale items. They are only sentimental to you not to the potential customer. If you have some items that you only want to get rid of as quickly as possible, feel free to set up a freebie box next to the cashier’s area. This is a good place for items such as odd washers, painted switch covers, or old dish towels. Do not put this bin anyplace other than the cashier’s stand, because that will prevent people from arguing, “But I found it in the freebie box!” when you know full well you didn’t put it in there. A box like this can be a good idea because people will feel like they got an extra deal and you can get rid of still somewhat useful stuff that is not even worth the price of a piece of masking tape. You sometimes have to forget about pricing garage sale items if they are things you desperately want to be rid of. Get original garage sale tips and other excellent resources on how to hold a profitable garage sale with the least amount of work and hassle. Great selection of tips and advice will guide you to a very profitable and enjoyable garage sale experience. Choosing A Financial Advisor

By Elizabeth Morgan The market offers several investment alternatives, and thus individuals are likely to be overwhelmed solely with the thought of them. It is essential to have proper guidance to execute a plan in order to achieve one?s financial goals. People who want to get involved with the market should look for the council and advice of financial advisors. While choosing financial advisors, people need to opt for one who has all the required expertise, qualifications, and tools to help them focus on their long-term goals. A good financial advisor can help decide which investments are best suited for individual needs, based on financial objectives. They will also be able to help with a savings program to build assets. Primarily, individuals need to identify their own needs, that is to say their risk-tolerance, insurance needs, taxes, and their short-term or long-term benefits. When this is done, choosing a financial advisor becomes easy. Individuals need to interview advisors and ask them questions about their experience, track record, services offered, investment approach, and educational credentials. It is also important for people to determine their level of comfort with the advisor in a long-term relationship. Individuals have to ensure that their financial advisors take time out to meet them often and explain everything they need to know about the market. Advisors should be able to offer their clients with a quarterly assessment and advice them on any change in strategies. To get this one-to-one individual benefit, it is advisable to choose smaller firms than larger ones with an exhaustive clientele. It is important to choose advisors who are remunerated on a fee-only basis rather than on brokerage commissions. Advisors who work on commissions may suggest frequent and unnecessary dealings to obtain benefits from them. Advisors ought to understand the investment method and risk tolerance of their clients. In some instances, a formal educational background balances lack of practical experience. However, in any case, it is important that advisors work in a team and have experts to fall back on. Lastly, individuals need to find out if advisors have any complaints or disciplinary actions on file. Most importantly, individuals have to use their own judgment when choosing financial advisors. If an individual wants his or her investments to flourish with time, it is imperative that they choose the right advisor. Creative Wedding Planning

By Reb Whit A wedding can and should be one of the happiest and joyous occasions of your life. Friends and family gather around in what should be the happiest day of your life. The downside to weddings is that they can be a major source of stress. Everything needs to be planned from the flowers, the location, the invitations, guests, dresses, suits, food, drinks, vows, speeches, jewelry, photos, decorations, caterers just to name a few. In organizing all of this you also run the risk of offending or hurting someones feelings in not being able to include them how or as much as they would like. Some have witnessed brides maid fighting to the death over who will be the maid of honor. Find out what everyones talents are and put them to work. This will save you a lot of work and allow your friends and family to be involved in your big day. The final stage of creative wedding planning is to enjoy your day. By being organized and exploiting the talents of your wedding guests your big day is likely to go ahead without incident. Your wedding will be the joyous and happy occasion that it should be. However, if all else fails, there is always the wedding planners. Implants for the Buttocks

By Ricardo Silva When one thinks of implants, it is almost always in regard to breasts. Buttocks implants, however, are becoming more and more common as a cosmetic enhancement. Cosmetic surgery patients today have a wide range of procedures to choose from. Whether a patient wants to enlarge their breasts, give their face a more youthful appearance, or remove excess fat; there’s a surgical solution to fit any patient’s needs. What is a person to do, however, if they want a part of the body worked on that isn’t commonly augmented? You’d actually be surprised at just what a cosmetic surgeon can do for you with today’s technology. Buttocks implants are one of the newest surgical solutions available to patients today. As people quest for leaner, more muscular bodies, one of the side effects can be that the buttock becomes flatter and less shapely. As larger, curvier buttocks are extremely popular these days (thanks in part to the curvaceous body of Jennifer Lopez), many women are upset when their buttocks become flat from exercise. There are only two options to increase the buttocks size: gaining weight and buttocks implants. Gaining weight is not a healthy or attractive option, so more and more, women and men are opting for the implants. Buttocks implants are artificial, anatomically shaped silicone pads that are placed in the buttocks to give a shapely appearance. These silicone pads are not dangerous, the way that older breast implants were, because the silicone in the buttocks pads is solid and cannot leak. Incisions are made in one of two places; either where the buttocks meets the thigh, or in the buttocks crease. The buttocks implants are then positioned either below the gluteous maximus muscle, or above it, depending on the shape desired. They are also placed above the sitting area, to avoid putting direct weight and pressure on the implants. This surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia, and patients can often go home the same day. As with any surgery, there are risks involved with having buttocks implants. These include infection, reaction to anesthesia, and shifting of the implants, which may cause your buttocks to look asymmetrical. Your doctor may prescribe antibiotics and pain medication for you to take after surgery. Buttocks implants are a great way for patients who are unsatisfied with the curve or size of their backside to enhance their look. While definitely not for everyone, patients who are worried about their rear can now do something about it. Both men and women can benefit from the help of these implants. Ligaments, Vertebral Arteries and the Sub Occiput-Their Role in Structural Integrity

By Michael C. Nelson The structural health of the neck is not just the maintenance of muscles, but the maintenance of; (1) The Ligaments; That support the vertebrae but have a minimal blood supply, unlike muscle tissue. Ligaments are the tissue system that binds bones together supporting joints and regulating their range of movement. Being poor in blood supply, they do not heal easily and are prone to calcium deposits, causing wear and tear arthritic changes to the joints. This can cause friction against the wall of the Vertebral Arteries as they pass through the Cervical Vertebrae wearing the wall thin and or, impeding the flow. Ligaments need deep massage and traction to promote good blood supply, full ranges of movement and the re-absorption of calcium deposits. (2) The Vertebral Arteries travel up through the vertebral foramina of each cervical vertebra. They enter the spine at the level of the 6th cervical vertebra (base of the neck) and travel up to the head where, to get into the cranium the vertebral arteries take, Two 90degree turns to supply about two thirds of the blood supply to the brain - which needs a minute to minute supply of glucose and oxygen to maintain its normal function. The vertebral arteries supply the deeper, autonomic centers of the brain, if the blood supply is diminished to these areas we have all types of dysfunctional conditions arising particularly as we age! If you can help to maintain the structural integrity of your cervical spine (neck) and therefore the blood supply to your brain the better you are going to be getting older as gravity grinds us ALL into the ground the inexorable factor. People forget that GRAVITY is the main reason we need 8 hours sleep a day and that our Rigging is our best way to pass this force through us, with as little wear and tear as possible. (3) The area known as the Sub Occiput is the level of the neck where the spine articulates with the base of the head, or cranium. Traction and deep inhibition to this area can affect our function through the many important physiological centers that are situated at the top of the neck. The Carotid sinus, at the top of the Carotid arteries carries the other third of the blood supply to the brain. This collection of nerves controls feedback information from the hearts pumping, for regulation of blood pressure. The 10th cranial nerve The Vagus Nerve leaves the cranium in this region and is one half of the control on the hearts rate of beating. The vagal nerve supplies rhythmic nerve impulses/control to the motor functions of most of the gastro-intestinal system, our peristalsis or gut motion. The amount of muscle investment in the Sub Occiput is great it needs to turn the head very quickly with control, it needs to hold the heaviest part of our body on the top of two small condyles and not impair that blood supply or pinch those nerve. These muscles are intimately connected to the muscles of mastication and all the emotional elements that the mouth and jaw can bring up that makes us grind our teeth at night or clench so tight we wake with a pounding headache. The Sub Occiput can be tight when we go to bed, impairing our sleep and even tighter the next morning, the impairment of blood supply can be debilitating, the whole cycle repeating more and more intensely each day. There are so many control mechanisms in the Sub Occipital Region and the rest of the neck and spine, that normal structural integrity is very, very important to the normality of most of our Function. Most professional Physical Therapists, which are Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Naturopaths and Masseurs have this knowledge, spend a little time to get to know a good one and you will have a much stronger armory to approach Diss-ease and generally live a better quality of life. Dr M.C.Nelson.D.O. A Melbourne Osteopath, trained in the U.K. at the European School of Osteopathy. Qualified in 1981, worked in private practice and lecturing in technique to French Physiotherapists in England, before returning to Australia and work in sports medicine clinics such as Brighton spinal and sports medicine clinic. Started to develop Dr Nelson’s S.O.S. from http://www.sosheadache.com during the late eighties-early nineties with a strong interest in headaches and peoples ability to heal themselves. US Hispanics Embracing Islam

By Azadeh Ghahghaei US Congress in 1968 for the first time designated the week of September 15 as National Hispanic Heritage Week. But in 1988 that was amended to make it a whole month, thus at the moment Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 through October 15. Having such a month seems necessary for a country like United States having a great number of Hispanics spreading over the states. President Bush’s insistence to fence the US- Mexico border in order to prevent illegal immigration of Hispanics from Mexico to US during this period signifies the importance Hispanics and generally immigration has to US government. The total cost of this 700 mile fence is estimated from $2 billion to $9 billion. However, US government is disregarding Mexican officials’ grievances of this issue. The Mexican government expresses its strong rejection of the construction of the wall … This decision damages the entire bilateral relationship, is contrary to the spirit of cooperation that must prevail to guarantee the security of the frontier,” Mexican presidential spokesman Ruben Aguilar. The news raised lots of controversies inside and outside US; border communities, religious groups, advocates and lawmakers were among serious opponents inside the country. “Critics have also argued that it would make the border more violent; would force illegal immigrants to take more dangerous routes through the desert; would harm trade and relations with Mexico; and still wouldn’t solve the problem of illegal immigration.” Simultaneous to this news, another issue came up regarding Hispanics in US which I was always concerning about. The news was published in New Mexican website on October 6, claiming that the number of Hispanics leaning to Islam is increasing. It explains the life of a Muslim Hispanic who was born in Colombia and is now living in US. The population of Hispanic Muslims has increased 30 percent to some 200,000- although it is still very few in comparison to the number of Christians in US- since 1999, estimates Ali Khan, national director of the American Muslim Council in Chicago. This growing trend to Islam by Hispanics may be assumed as a consequence of 9/11 terrorist attacks and also the collision between two burgeoning minority groups, means Muslims and Hispanics. It is important to notice that there are several similarities in faith between Hispanics and Muslims such as family- orientation, being religious, poverty, health care and issues regarding immigration. The previous ruling of Muslims in Spain can not be ignored as a crucial reason for this tendency of Hispanics to Islam. Ihsan Bagby, professor of Arabic and Islamic studies at the University of Kentucky indicates: Many Hispanics who are becoming Muslim, would say they are embracing their heritage, a heritage that was denied to them in a sense.” Another point to be mentioned is that the number of Hispanic Muslim growing is very high in New York, Florida, California and Texas, where Hispanic communities are largest. The number of Hispanics attending mosques is ascending gradually, the need for Spanish books especially Koran is a reasonable proof for this claim. Hispanics as a very significant and influential minority in United States bear a very important role in coming US elections, both Congress election in 2006 and 2008 presidential elections. Among the total registered people of voting, more than 2.7 million voters have Hispanic surnames, an increase of about 560,000 since 2002. Of the 85,000 additional voters this year, about 77,800 were people with Hispanic surnames, Williams’ office reported. It is interesting to know that for example there are about 8 million Hispanics in Texas, and of those 3.4 million are eligible to vote, according to the Pew Hispanic Center. To conclude the discussion of Hispanics, their intention for Islam and Hispanics’ role in political decisions by voting, I would like to conclude that a country like Iran which is facing severe conflicts with US should be clever enough to make use of these conditions; current dissatisfaction of Hispanics of US government, Hispanics’ inclination to Islam and their role in US elections. Iran is said to be a driving force in preaching Islam, thus it should equip itself with qualifications that grant it opportunities to be able to contact Hispanics in States and direct them more to Islam. In this way, Muslims and Hispanics can unitedly protest for unjust rules treated to them since earlier this year, Muslims joined Hispanics in marches nationwide protesting immigration-reform proposals they felt were unfair. Islamic Republic of Iran can build a constructive relation with the Latino American Dawah Organization, established in 1997 by converts in New York City and increase its policy supporters inside the land of US. One of the ways by which Iran can improve its relation with this center is to hold joint conferences and research projects. Elidel and Protopic? Natural Alternatives to Treat Eczema

By Ben Lynch As I was couch bound one evening, a ‘cute’ commerical for an eczema drug appeared. It stated that it treated eczema and that there was no cure for eczema. Needless to say, as a naturopathic medical student, I was furious. There is a cure for eczema. It is called prevention. But that is another issue. The issue I want to address here: Elidel, the ‘cute’ eczema drug, causes cancer in three different animal species. That is not cute. Protopic also causes cancer in the same animal species. The FDA advised doctors to prescribe Elidel or Protopic only if all else failed for eczema. Do not use long term and do not use on children under 2. What are the advisories on Elidel and Protopic: Do not use on 2 years or youngerDo not use on people with weak immune systemsDo not use long term - only intermittently or short termDo not use until all other eczema treatments have failed What harms can Elidel and Protopic create: The potential for cancer increases with frequency. Longer the use, the higher the chance. The potential for cancer increases with amount. More used, the higher the chance.Upper respiratory infections increased in children with Elidel as compared to placebo.Unknown issues with developing immune systems in children - harm them or not? This is what they’ve found so far. The list will grow. Why didn’t they discover this before it went on the market???? Bottom line: Do not use Elidel or Protopic. A natural eczema treatment is possible: Seek the advice of a trained naturopathic physician and your eczema will be gone. Yes. Gone. Food allergy is a main cause of eczema. Remove food you are allergic or insensitive to - and your eczema will likely disappear. Typical food allergens which cause eczema: egg, wheat, or dairy are the biggest players. Which one it is can be determined with a food elimination diet. Eliminate that specific food and its relations (like soy sauce - wheat based) completely for 3 weeks. Then at the end of three weeks, eat a lot of that avoided food. How do you feel? Symptoms come back, aggravate, no change? Obviously, if aggravated, you are sensitive or allergic. Avoid that food for 6 months at least. This allows your immune system to calm down and not react to everything. There is also a simple technique that I learned this afternoon in lecture. Our professor stated that most people find it difficult to do a food elimination diet. I agree. I know I do. He said he has patients do a 48 hour fast consuming only a quality food supplement powder such as BioCleanse Functional Food. Nothing else is eaten during this time. He states that 6 to 10 servings a day of BioCleanse hold off appetite just fine and allow the body to remove the reacting food antigens. At the end of the 48 hours, the skin is assessed along with energy and overall well-being. If the eczema improved over this time, and yes it can improve this fast as skin regenerates quickly, then he knows the eczema is diet related. A strong topical herbal cream preparation is also useful in helping treat eczema naturally. Dr Rowan Hamilton of Rowan Botanicals recently released Professional Intensif and Professional Extreme. The bottom line today though is to avoid these Elidel and Protopic. Treat the cause of eczema - don’t just palliate the surface with a topical steroid. Steroids just push toxins deeper and to a different location. You know what the largest detoxification organ is in the body? Liver? Nope. The skin. Where do toxins appear when the liver is overwhelmed with toxins? The skin. Remove the cause of liver stagnation, do a light cleanse and apply a proven topical to your skin. In a few weeks, you should be much improved. On a side note: You know what may happen when steroids are given for kids with eczema? Asthma. Time and time again, we see this in the clinic. We take the history of some asthmatic child and find that he/she was given topical steroids to control eczema or some other skin affliction. This goes back to what I stated earlier. Steroids only suppress the immune system and stop the body’s natural healing response to a buildup of unwanted substances. These substances then accumulate in the body elsewhere. It is not advisable to push something deeper into the body. Better out than in. We then address the child’s skin problem naturally and the asthma goes away. Sounds like a bunch of BS doesn’t it? I don’t BS. With a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, I understand science. My medical school is on the leading edge of natural healing and we are changing the way medicine is done. It is extremely rewarding to see patient after patient improve. You can as well. Back to the topic at hand: Follow the FDA link to read the statement about Elidel and Protopic. Stay healthy. Ben PS - The basic premise you will see me state over and over …and over again: treat the cause not the symptoms. Sounds basic but it is far from basic. Imagine finding why someone has high blood pressure? You know what conventional medicine’s term for some causes of hypertension? Essential hypertension [what's that?] and Idiopathic hypertension [means unknown cause]. Pin it down and you’re set. I look forward to writing about this soon. I’m taking Cardiology currently and learning a ton. It is amazing how successful natural treatments are for hypertension. Don’t misunderstand me - I completely support conventional medicine and work with MD’s all the time. Seattle is a very amazing city as the bridge is solid between conventional and complementary medicine. There is a time for drugs and there is time for natural alternatives - and there is time for both at once.
